Setting up Mail.app for Hiveminder IMAP

To add Hiveminder's IMAP server to your Mail.app client:

  1. In the File menu, select Add Account...
  2. Enter your name, the email address you used to register for Hiveminder, and your Hiveminder password. If you've already set up an account with that email address, Mail.app will complain -- you can enter a Hiveminder incoming email address instead.
  3. Select IMAP as the account type, enter a description of your choice (like Hiveminder!), use hiveminder.com as the incoming mail server, and your full Hiveminder email address as your username.

    Because Mail.app aggregates all Inboxes across all accounts, your Hiveminder tasks will appear in this aggregated mailbox. If you don't like this, you can append "/noinbox" to your username (that is, username@example.com/noinbox), which will leave your Inbox on the Hiveminder server empty, and instead place your personal tasks in a folder named Todo.

  4. You will then be prompted to enter your outgoing mail server. Hiveminder does not provide an outgoing mail server; you should enter your regular email account's outgoing mail server here, not mail.bestpractical.com as shown here. Your regular email account's outgoing mail server should be in the drop-down; if it is not, ask your local system administrator (nicely!) for what it should be.
  5. Once you've checked the details, you're done.
  6. You're all set to go with Hiveminder IMAP!
